The Hybrid TEFL certification program is perfect for people who have less time to travel, but still want the benefit of onsite coaching and in-person practical teaching experience. The Hybrid TEFL is a thorough introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During the 150-hour course you study the same modules as the standard, onsite, 4-week TEFL program. You complete the first half of the course through guided self-study, and 10 hours of included tutoring by Zoom with your TEFL Trainer. For the second half, you complete your course onsite at one of Maximo Nivel’s institutes in Costa Rica, Guatemala, or Peru. While you are onsite you cover all the Teaching Methodology and Practical Teaching modules of the course.
During your Hybrid TEFL, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop the practical skills needed to effectively teach English anywhere in the world. During the online portion of the course, your TEFL Trainer challenges you to think creatively while coaching you through the assignments. Note that you must be self-guided and take responsibility for your own learning. For the onsite portion of your Hybrid TEFL, you join the existing group of in-country TEFL trainees and pickup right where you left off in the online modules. Remember, the more you put into your TEFL training, the more you get out of it!

HYBRID TEFL MODULES
The first half of the Hybrid course is self-paced, and we recommend you complete the online portion in approximately 4-12 weeks. From there, you should schedule the onsite portion of your course as soon as possible. There are specific dates for the onsite course and you should contact us to schedule your program. Your TEFL Trainer is available for 10 hours of included tutoring and coaching via Zoom. When you sign up, you receive your Trainer’s contact details.

PRACTICAL TEACHING
Practical teaching is the heart of the Hybrid TEFL Certification program. You teach 2 mini-lessons in week 3 after you arrive in country. There are also various, short workshops where you practice specific teaching techniques and strategies. The Hybrid TEFL course also includes 2 hours where you observe experienced ESL teachers leading their classes. In the final week of the Hybrid TEFL, you take over a live English class with real, non-native students, and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days, during which you are observed and coached by your TEFL Trainer. In all you have approximately 10 hours of practical teaching and observation during the course.
